  • Epilepsy Awareness Day

    On March 26 annually, people in countries around the world are invited to wear purple in support of epilepsy awareness.  Epilepsy, the fourth most common neuroligical disorder, affects people of all ages and is charatcterized by unpredictible seizures and can cause other health problems. Mendon will be participating in recognizing epilepsy and is asking Mendon students and staff to wear purple on Friday, March 24, 2017.

  • Fundraiser

    The Mendon PTO & Mendon staff are selling tickets to benefit the PTO & the Garden Fund. The ticket will run for three days and are $5.00 a piece. There are two numbers per ticket. If you are interested in purchasing a ticket(s) please stop into the main office. If you are unable to make it in and would still like to purchase a ticket, you can send money in with your child and we will complete the identifying information needed for the stub! All ticket sales and money are due by April 4, 2017.

  • PSSA Testing


    We will be administering the PSSA to our third and fourth graders and will follow the schedule listed below.  It is important that your child attends school on testing days.  Please do not schedule any doctor's or other appointments on testing days.  Should you need to get your child out of school early, please do so after 1:00 PM. Thank you for your help in this matter.

    PSSA Schedule:

    English Language Arts (Reading & Writing) - April 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th

    Math - April 24th, 25th, and 26th

    Science (grade 4 only) - May 2nd & 3rd

Word of the Week

Each week, students at Mendon Elementary will be learning and using a new "word of the week".  They will see the word, learn the definition, and  incorporate the word within their classrooms and their daily assignments.

Week 29: Enthusiasm- Strong excitement about something, a strong feeling of active interest in something that you like or enjoy

Week 1: Patient- Being able to remain calm and not become annoyed when waiting for a long time

Week 2: Accountability- Being responsible for your decisions and actions; dependable

Career Awareness Initiative

The Yough School District is kicking off the 2016-17 school year with it's Career Awareness Initiative.  Part of the initiative is to bring awareness to the top Soft Skills employers look for in their employees.  What better way to prepare the future work force by introducing & reinforcing Soft Skills while they're in school?
